Biography
Mary feels she has always been aware of the use of colour, even from primary school age and describing herself as being a hopeless academic all through her education, she has always concentrated on art and music. Mary attended a foundation course in art and went on to study photography, specialising in animation, moving on to work for an animation company for a few years in the paint and trace department. Following this she worked in close company with a paint restorer which gave her a furthered education in the layering of colours. Since then she has focussed on painting on fabric which she uses to create her jewellery and experimenting by herself.
Artist Statement
I am constantly finding new effects and trying new materials. The essence is always to keep an open mind. I thoroughly enjoy my work, and I hope this enthusiasm comes over in the pieces I make. I have taken great encouragement from people who have seen me at shows. They are very positive, and welcome the uniqueness of material, design and ideas.
