Biography
Pip is a self-taught artist Worcester based artist who started painting in 2011, after being inspired by watching Bob Ross on TV. He is best known for his miniature landscapes painted ‘Alla Prima’; oil on board, using a wet on wet style. He paints from his imagination, inspired by his love of the English countryside.
Artist Statement
I have always been a lover of the English countryside and that inspires me - knowing what is out there and what should fit. What I really love about painting, is that I think about nothing else as I create my imagined landscapes. It is a great escape into places that don’t exist!
What is an ACEO?
ACEO stands for Art Card Editions and Originals. The ACEO is derived from the ATC - Artist Trading Card and the only rule is that they measure specifically 3.5 x 2.5 inches. These tiny artworks are produced on many surfaces including paper, wood, etc and I myself have produced also on aluminium panels. As ATC, they are often traded between artists and also collectors, but as ACEO, they are sold to collectors and have become something of a phenomenon within the art world.
Many collectors keep them in specially made wallets that keep them clean and protected, but with oil paintings, they are best framed without glass in the traditional way.
ACEO are a fantastic way to own an original piece of art and to start an art collection. They are also a great addition to any substantial art collection, since a lack of wall space can’t be used as an excuse not to add one more piece!
