Biography

Vivien died in September 2015 at the age of 76 after being diagnosed with cancer in the previous November.   Vivien lived in Malvern for over 29 years, and took great delight in the English countryside with a keen interest in woodland scenes, the reflective nature of pools and rivers and in particular the changing moods and seasons of the Malvern Hills.   After a childhood spent in Istanbul and Ankara, where she produced and sold Christmas cards for British Embassy staff, Vivien came to England in 1954. Here as a self taught artist she began a life long passion for painting. Initially concentrating in oils and acrylics, then progressing onto watercolours and pastels. Greatly influenced by the impressionists, her exuberant early experiments in abstract colour and form came full circle with new interpretations of classic views.   Vivien exhibited at Guildhall in the City of London, the Mall Galleries and Central Hall Westminster. In 1989 she was invited to become a member of the Society of Women Artists. She has also exhibited in solo and mixed shows in various parts of the country and her work can be found in collections at home and abroad.
